Christmas market : Place St Lambert from 27/11/15 to 30/12/15
The Christmas Market in Liège has become one of the most significant in Belgium thanks to its size and atmosphere. Every year, nearly a million people visit to soak up the magical ambiance created by 200 fairytale log huts and the joie de vivre of the local people.
For four weeks, the wooden chalets serve up all sorts of great gift ideas, including jewellery, traditional crafts and toys, as well as a wide range of Christmas decorations (baubles, sets of nativity scenes, Christmas cards, fireworks) and edible goodies to be eaten on the spot or taken home (marzipan, forest mushrooms on toast, sausages, oysters, chocolate, gingerbread, foie gras, mulled wine, Christmas beers, champagne).
Other attractions include the outdoor skating rink, traditional merry-go-round, Radio Christmas (which provides the whole city with music)
Outdoor Skating Rink until 03rd January : in front of St Paul's Cathedral, in the heart of Liège's pedestrianised zone.
Ice Star Wars : Opposite Guillemin's Railway Station until 31/01/16
in November, 500 tons of ice has been delivered opposite the railway station. In 4 weeks, 30 artists from 12 countries have been working on sculpting the well loved characters created by Lucas film since 1977. It is now on display until the end of January 2016.
